GUWAHATI: The State Government will submit a detailed report to the Centre on flood and landslide damage in the state. The report will reflect details of department-wise damage.

A central team visited the state and assessed the flood and landslide damage. The State Government briefed the Central team on the damage. It, however, stopped short of submitting a flood memorandum to the Centre as more waves of floods are on the cards in the state. The flood season spans from May to September in Assam.

The central team wound up its assessment of damage and left for New Delhi today. They assessed flood and landslide damage in Dima Hasao, Cachar, Nagaon, Hojai and Darrang districts. The central team will report to the Centre on flood and landslide damage in Assam.

Meanwhile, the flood situation has improved much in the state. However, seven districts – Dima Hasao, Cachar, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup-M, Morigaon and Nagaon – are still reeling under floods. As many as 31,645 inmates are taking shelter in 104 relief camps.

Floods have claimed 27 lives, and landslides have claimed five lives in the state.
