GUWAHATI: It's good news for job seekers! The State Government has formed two state-level recruitment commissions for filling up the vacant class-III and class-IV posts in various departments. These two commissions are the first of their kind in the state.

The Personnel Department of the State Government issued two notifications on the recruitment commissions. It said that it constituted the two recruitment commissions with a nod from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to one of the two notifications, Principal Secretary Dr Ashish Kumar Bhutani heads the state-level recruitment commission for class III posts as the chairman. It has Commissioner-Secretary Kavitha Padmanabhan and Secretary Prabtra Ram Ram Khaund as members, besides Additional Director of Medical Education-cum-NHM Executive Director Dr MK Choudhury as the secretary.

According to the other notification, Principal Secretary Dr B Kalyan Chakravarthy heads the state-level recruitment commission for class-IV posts as its chairman. This commission has Commissioner-Secretary Jayant Narlikar and Secretary Umananda Doley as members, besides Deputy Secretary Kamaljit Talukdar as its secretary.

The recruitment commission for class-III posts will collect data of all analogous class-III posts vacant in various departments to fill them up. The commission will hold the examination and prepare the merit list for the respective departments to issue appointment letters.

The state-level recruitment commission for the class-IV posts will also do the same to fill up the vacancies in various departments.

The purpose of these two recruitment commissions is to straighten the otherwise messy recruitments of grade III and grade IV posts by various departments in the state. The state exchequer feels the pinch more when various departments hold separate recruitment examinations for analogous posts — grade III or grade IV. The coincidence of examination dates in the existing recruitment process of Grade-III and Grade-IV posts makes candidates opt for only one of the examinations.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister held a meeting with the Chief Secretary and other senior officers of the Secretariat on the recruitment process last night. The Chief Minister laid stress on maximum transparency in the recruitment process. He also asked the officers to complete the recruitment process by June 10, 2022.

Talking to the media today, the Chief Minister said that the process for the recruitment of around 60,000 vacant posts was underway, and the government was trying to advertise for the filling up of 40,000 other vacant posts shortly.
