Encroachment in Charaideo Maidams

GUWAHATI: State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan has instructed the Deputy Commissioners of Sivasagar and Charaideo to find out if there has been any encroachment in the Charaideo Maidams. Talking to The Sentinel, Mohan said, "There are some allegations of encroachment and even a tea garden has been allegedly encroached upon. So the DCs of the two districts have been asked to find out if the allegations are true." Charaideo Maidams fall under the districts of Sivasagar and Charaideo. Recently, the Government of India sent a proposal to the UNESCO headquarters in Paris for nominating the Charaideo Maidams as a World Heritage Site.
