GUWAHATI: The CID has left no stone unturned to delve deep into the extortion by Bajali police. They have not even spared the cooks and orderlies of the police officers involved, let alone their drivers.

The investigators are still grilling five people: Pathsala Police Station LC Ananta Malakar, Bhawanipur Police Outpost LC Sonowar Hussain, the then SP Siddhartha Buragohain's PSO Pranjal Pator, and the then ASP Garatri Sonowal's helpers Samseng Engleng and Lakhyadhar Adhikari. The police picked up Engleng and Lakhyadhar Adhikari from Doboka on the night of Thursday and handed them over to the CID yesterday.

Meanwhile, the investigators raided Gayatri Sonowal's mother's house at Survey in the Beltola area of Guwahati today. The sleuths took Gayatri Sonowal's husband, Subhas Chander, to the raid. This is the second such raid on the house of Gayatri's mother.

The CID is on the trail of the source of the bag, from which they recovered Rs 64.29 lakh.

According to sources, Sanowar Hussain tore the pages of July 16 and 17 of the GD entry book of Bhawani police station at the diktat of the SP. The former SP engaged his PSO Pator for the transaction of the cash.

Meanwhile, the CID took former SP Siddhartha Buragohain and former DSP Pushkal Gogoi to five-day custody after producing them before the court today.
