GUWAHATI: The Fee Regulatory Committee under the Department of School Education, Assam, has asked the headmasters, headmistresses, and principals of all non-government educational institutions in the State to take the necessary steps to file fee fixation applications by April 30, 2023, to avoid any legal action.

The Fee Regulatory Committee also said that the heads of non-government schools can also visit www.feeregulatoryassa-m.com for registration and application for an FRC (Fee Regulatory Committee) certificate.

In a letter sent to the heads of non-government educational institutions of the state, FRC Chairman RC Jain said that under ‘The Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2018’ (as amended), all the non-government educational institutions of the State have to register, apply, and renew for fixation of their fee structures within October 31 of the year of proposal.

As per Section 8 read with Section 10 of the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulations of Fees) Act, 2018 (as amended), (i) it is mandatory for all non-government educational institutions to apply for fee fixation certificates and renewal thereof on or before October 31 of the year of the proposal; (ii) if the institution fails to apply for the certificate on or before October 31, a fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed, and an additional fine of Rs 5,000 each month will be charged if applied after October 31 of the year of the proposal; and (iii) for the academic year 2023-24, the last date of submission without a fine was extended till midnight of November 30, 2022.
