GUWAHATI: The Election Department published the final photo electoral rolls today, taking January 1, 2022, as the qualifying date. The final rolls have 2,37,10,834 electors – 1,19,56,211 males, 1,17,54,222 females and 401 third genders.

The final electoral roll has 3,08,001 voters more than its draft photo electoral roll with 2,34,02,833 voters. The increase from the draft roll stands at 1.32 per cent. The department published the draft roll on November 1, 2021.

The State Election department published the final photo electoral roll following direction from the Election Commission of India after the special summary revision 2022, state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nitin Khade said.

While the Nagaon district has the highest number of 15,35,363 voters, the Majuli district has the lowest number of 1,32,445 voters.

Among the 126 LACs of the state, Dispur has the highest number of 4,14,861 voters, and Thowra in the Sivasagar district has the lowest number of 1,17,695 voters.

The age-wise numbers of electors are – new voters (18-19 years): 4,79,133; 20-29 years: 66,33,053; 30-39 years: 57,58,494; 40-49 years: 46,30,041; 50-59 years: 33,05,125; 60-69 years: 18,21,923; 70-79 years: 7,81,955; 80+ years: 3,01,110 electors.

The total number of PWD (person with disabilities) voters in the state is 1,63,151.

The state has 28,205 polling stations.

The Elector Population Ratio (EPR) in the final electoral roll in 2022 is 635, and the gender ratio (GR) stands at 983. The EPR and GR saw improvement over the previous draft electoral roll with 626 EPR and 979 GR.

According to Khade, in an effort towards building an all-inclusive electoral process under the aegis of the Election Commission of India, the department extensively used technological intervention for maximum voter enrollment and engagement. Electors also enrolled by uploading their forms through Voter Helpline App (VHA), National Voter Service Portal (NVSP), and Online Voters' Registration Portal. "To ensure faster, smarter, transparent and timely completion of work, the booth-level officers made extensive use of the GARUDA app, which further helped in paperless work," he said.
