Five arrested in scholarship scam

GUWAHATI: Raids by the CID at a few locations under Boko, Nagarbera and Dhupdhara police stations in the intervening night of February 7 and 8 led to the picking up of five persons in connection with the pre-matriculation minority scam.

Three of the five have been arrested later.

As on now, as many as 35 arrests have been made in connection with the scam. The five persons who were apprehended by the sleuths of the CID during the raids are Nur Haque (38), Golam Mustafa (27), Azad Rofikul Islam (41), Muniruddin (25) and Azizul Haque (28). The CID conducted the raids in continuation of its investigation of the scam.

After interrogation the CID arrested Nur Haque, Golam Mustafa and Azad Rofikul Islam. They will be produced before the Court on Tuesday.
