Sources informed that all of them hail from Rakhine State of Myanmar and were coming from Manipur to proceed towards Delhi. Police seized cigarettes and coffee packets besides other items from their possession.

The persons have been identified as 24-year-old Arofa, wife of Md Shobik of Buthuoidaung; 21-year-old Md Zuber, son of late Warhussain and resident of Labadok Parachi, Daungchong Buthuoidaung; 20-year-old Kamal Hussain, son of Abutaher and resident of Labadok Parachi, Daungchong Buthuoidaung; 19-year-old Md Nurul Hakim, son of Rupa Ali and resident of Baguna; and 19-year-old Md Kalimulla, son of Md Hasim and resident of Baguna.

They have been handed over to Government Railway Police (GRP) for follow-up actions and a case under Foreigners Act is being registered. Sources added that an Aadhar card has been found with Arofa. Investigation is on to check the genuineness of the card.

Following interrogation, they revealed that in 2018 they were arrested by the Manipur Police after they entered the Indian State, and were recently released on bail.

Police suspect that they were proceeding towards Delhi to try and get ‘refugee’ status from the United Nation’s High Commissioner for Refugees there.
