GUWAHATI: Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, and Sonitpur districts continue to reel under floods. The situation in the Dhemaji district has worsened. The Brahmaputra is still flowing above the danger level at Neamatighat in the Jorhat district. According to predictions by the RMC (Regional Meteorological Centre), Guwahati, “thin to moderate rainfall with lightning will occur almost in all places in Assam, and heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in the state in the coming 24 hours.

According to the report of the ASDMA (Assam State Disaster Management Authority), 109 villages in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, and Sonitpur districts are reeling under floods. The flood has affected 99 villages alone in the Dhemaji district. The number of affected people has also gone up to 58,499 today, including 53,684 in Dhemaji alone.
