GUWAHATI: The flood situation continued to remain grave in the state on Friday as three more districts were inundated due to rainfall.

Flood was reported on Friday from Tinsukia, Kokrajhar and Dhubri. As of now, the other districts affected by floods are Darrang, Majuli, Jorhat, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Lakhimpur and Nagaon.

The river Brahmaputra is still flowing above the danger level at Nematighat in Jorhat and Tezpur. Dibrugarh experienced 17.2 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, according to a Central Water Commission (CWC) report, the Brahmaputra has shown a rising trend in Guwahati, Goalpara and Dhubri. As of Friday evening, the water level of the Brahmaputra was 48.94 metre in Guwahati. The danger level in Guwahati is 49.68 metre. The water level of the Brahmaputra was 28.15 metre in Dhubri as of this evening. The danger level there is 28.62 metre. In Goalpara, the water level was 35.64 in the evening. The danger level there is 36.27 metre.

According to the latest flood bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), so far 24 revenue circles under 11 districts have been affected by floods so far.

A population of 41,287 of 283 villages has been affected by high water level. The maximum of 99 villages has been affected in the Lakhimpur district, followed by Dhemaji (52 villages), Majuli (32 villages), Golaghat (28 villages), Kokrajhar (22), etc.

The districts administrations of Lakhimpur and Tinsukia have set up 14 relief distribution centres for the flood-affected people. According to the ASDMA, 21,386 units of livestock have also been affected in the Darrang, Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts.

Infrastructural damage and erosion have been reported from several of the flood-affected districts.
