GUWAHATI: Rivers in the state, including the Brahmaputra, are maintaining a falling trend, yet the deluge has still affected 12 districts.

Though the Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level only in the Dhubri district, after a long time its entire stretch from Dibrugarh to Dhubri is maintaining a falling trend. Barring the Kopili, most other rivers in the state are also maintaining falling trends.

The flood water is receding in the state, but the people in different areas in 12 districts are yet to get any respite. According to reports from the ASDMA, 21 revenue circles in 12 districts—Barpeta, Biswanath, Chirang, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Nagaon, and Sivasagar—are reeling under floods. The ASDMA report further said that as many as 1,22,093 people—60,982 males, 42,736 females, and 18,375 children—are affected in the state.

Reports of infrastructure damage and damage by erosion continue to come from various areas in the state. Seven relief camps are operational in the state, giving shelter to 1,331 affected people. The highest number of 1,126 inmates is taking shelter in a relief camp in the Golaghat district.
