NEW DELHI: Former BJP MP RP Sharma on Monday formally joined the Congress in front of party general secretary K Venugopal in New Delhi.
Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also accompanied Sharma during his joining in the Congress.
"Joining of a senior political like RP Sharma will definitely yield good results for the party," said Venugopal. Echoing the same view, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that "Congress was always there in the soul and blood of RP Sharma. It's like homemaking for Sharma." Commenting on his joining the INC, Sharma said that he will dedicatedly work for the party in Assam. He added, "Though I have left the BJP, I still have respect for the RSS; and I will never forget the RSS ideologue." Sharma, a former MP from Tezpur, left the BJP after he was denied the party ticket in the last general election.
