Former Dhula Police Station OC, wife arrested

GUWAHATI: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Assam today arrested former officer in-charge of Dhula Police Station, Sub Inspector Utpal Bora, and his wife Pratibha Rekha Deka in a disproportionate asset case registered vide CID PS case no. 01/2023 u/s 120B/109 IPC R/W Sec 13(1) (b)/ 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). The CID registered the case on January 10, 2023 against SI Utpal Bora for possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of 936%, which is about Rs 1.26 crore. Several notices had been served to the accused to appear before the Investigating Officer for examination and investigation. However, both the accused were absconding and not cooperating with the investigation. Both accused were produced before the court and remanded to five days of police custody.
