GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi and discussed fund allocation to the State government in the current financial year today.

Talking to the media in New Delhi, the Chief Minister said, "We will present the State Budget on March 16. Before that, I met the Union Finance Minister to know the expected fund allocation to the State. The Union Budget earmarked Rs 1 lakh crore for capital projects. The states will get Rs 70,000 crore of the amount (Rs 1 lakh crore). I talked to the Finance Minister on the expected share of Assam from the Rs 70,000 crore. Based on that we can include some capital projects in the state Budget.

"I was in Mumbai for the past two days. I talked to Tata Group and other industries for investment in Assam. It is an initial discussion. I will go to Mumbai after two/three months to have detailed discussions with industries on investment."

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Sri Sankardev Namghar and Socio-cultural Centre at Poshari and Twre village in Mumbai today. The villagers and the Assamese community living in Mumbai are implementing the project.

The Chief Minister assured all cooperation, including financial assistance, for the construction of the Namghar. He also announced to build a temple of Maa Kamahkya near the Namghar.
