G20 to give world glimpse of India’s potential, says Narendra Modi

NEW DELHI: India is fully geared to host the G20 Summit, which is to be hosted in the national capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the latest edition of his monthly radio broadcast, Mann Ki Baat'.

He added that the summit next month, which is being hosted under India's presidency of the G20, will give the world an insight into the country's potential and rising global heft.

With world leaders and delegates from over 40 countries expected to attend the event, Prime Minister Modi said the event in India will witness the biggest participation in the history of the G20 Summit.

He said India's G20 presidency is a "people’s presidency", with public participation at its forefront.

"The month of September will give the world a glimpse of India's potential. We are fully prepared to host the G20 Leaders Summit next month in Delhi. The heads of 40 countries and many global organisations will be here to participate in the event. The event this year will see the biggest participation in the history of the G20 Summit," PM Modi said.

"Our presidency of the G20 is a people's presidency where the spirit of public participation is at the forefront. Eleven Engagement Groups of the G20—from academia, civil society, youth, women, our parliamentarians, entrepreneurs, and people associated with urban administration—combined to play a critical role in helping us host this event," he added.

"In some way or another, more than 1.5 crore people are involved in events being organised across the country in connection with the G20 Summit," PM Modi said.

‘Dawn of Revolution lit up the dark side of the moon’: He said Mission 'Chandrayaan-3' has emerged as the symbol of the spirit of a 'New India', which wants to emerge victorious under any circumstances. India entered the record books as the first country to successfully place a lander on the moon's uncharted south pole on Wednesday last week.

The successful conduct of the lunar landing mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) also put India in an elite club of nations featuring the US, Russia, and China.

He further said a discussion on India's lunar landing mission would struggle to do justice to the enormity of its success.

On the key role played by ISRO's women scientists in the successful conduct of the daunting lunar landing mission, PM Modi said the mission is a "classic illustration of women's power", adding that India's daughters are not only shattering glass ceilings but also challenging space, which is considered ‘infinite.’

"India's Mission Chandrayaan is a classic illustration of our women's power. Many women scientists and engineers were directly involved with this mission. They handled vital responsibilities such as those of a project director and project manager," he said.

"Our daughters are even challenging the limitless space." When the daughters of a country chase such big dreams, is there any force that can stop them or the country from making forward strides? PM Modi added

The Prime Minister hailed the people for participating in the government's initiative of 'Har Ghar Tiranga abhiyaan' and said that due to the efforts of the people, it became 'Har Mann Tiranga abhiyaan'.

"The efforts of all the countrymen turned the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan' into a 'Har Mann Tiranga Abhiyan'. Many records were also broken during this campaign. The countrymen purchased Tricolours in crores," he said. (Agencies)
