Government functions, to begin with, State Anthem

GUWAHATI: Dispur has instructed all departments and deputy commissioners to start all government functions and programmes with the State Anthem 'O mor aponar desh…' and conclude them with the National Anthem 'Jana gana mana…'

The notification issued to this effect by the Department of Cultural Affairs says that the duration of the State Anthem is 70-75 seconds.

The State Government notified the song 'O mor aponar desh' written by Raxaraj Lakshminath Bezbaruah as the State Anthem (Asom Jatiya Sangeet) on February 29, 2016. The previous Government, however, stopped short of implementing it in all government functions and programmes.

The State Cabinet recently decided to sing the State Anthem in all government functions and programmes. The Department of Cultural Affairs has already notified the notation (sworolipi) of the Anthem.
