GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated Finance Minister Ajanta Neog for presenting a growth-oriented and people-friendly budget for fiscal 2022-23 in the state Assembly today.
The Chief Minister said, "I'm sure the Budget, which has taken into account every stakeholder's interest, will herald a new era of progress.
"For meeting the growing demand for power and promoting green energy, the Budget has announced several new initiatives, including setting up solar power plants at a cost of Rs4,000 crore under 'Mukhya Mantri Souro Shakti Prokolpo' and two hydel projects, among others.
"The financial outlay for setting up paddy procurement centres, rice-servicing depots, mills, godowns, drier units, etc., will be key to revolutionizing our agriculture sector and will surely empower the farmer community.
"We are on course to fulfilling our promise of providing one lakh government jobs in the first year. Necessary steps have been initiated in this regard to fill up various posts.
"Safeguarding the interests of the indigenous communities is an issue very close to our heart. Glad to see several allocations made in this regard in the Budget."
