Health personnel to reach out non-vaccinated people across Assam
2.71 crore Covid doses administered till Sunday

GUWAHATI: To reach out to the non-vaccinated 18-plus people across Assam, the State administration will conduct an intensive village survey.
In this regard, sources in the State Health Department and NHM (National Health Mission, Assam said, "Each ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) in each hamlet is a local woman trained to act as health educators and promoters in their communities. With the local-level Health Department personnel — the ASHA personnel will prepare the ground-level lists of the non-vaccinated people in the 18-plus age group.
"Accordingly, the Health Department will follow up with the necessary post-survey vaccination programmes."
The sources added, " Till 6:30 pm on Sunday, 2,71,12,132 Covid-19 doses have been given across the State. Of them, altogether 1,98,95,028 were administered the first dose while 72, 17,104 people were given their second doses."
According to the 2021 electoral roll, there is approximately 2.30 crore of people in this 18-plus category. Significantly, a few lakhs among them are engaged in various professional and educational purposes outside Assam.
Against this backdrop, the State authority has targeted the vaccination of at least 2.10 crore of the 2.30-crore 18-plus age group.
The sources added that once accomplished, Assam will achieve the target of covering the maximum target of people vaccinated with at least the first dose of anti-Covid vaccines.
Talking to media persons on Sunday, State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta appealed to the non-vaccinated people to get immunized against the Coronavirus as soon as possible. He added, "Assam has sufficient stocks of anti-Covid vaccine doses."
According to Health Department sources, as in the morning of Sunday, Assam has a stock of 42,29,070 vaccines.
