GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has announced that all steps have been taken to ensure that the Class-XII board examination commencing from February 12 till March 14 in the State will be smooth. Talking to the media here on Monday, AHSEC chairman Dayananda Borgohain and secretary Kamal Gogoi further added that all the examination centres including the examination halls will be under strict surveillance.

Altogether 2,42,843 candidates will appear in the examination across the State. Of them, 1,11,598 are BPL candidates while 1,31,245 are included in the APL list.

The Council authorities have identified 25 sensitive examination centres across the eight districts of Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Dhubri, Barpeta, Morigaon, Nagaon and Dhemaji.

Jammers have been installed in all the sensitive centres and halls to ensure that no electronic devices including mobiles could be used by either the candidates or the invigilators during the examination hours. Besides, help has been sought from a cyber intelligence team to forestall all forms of cyber crimes in the examination halls. Section 144 will be declared till 50 metres from the centres. Moreover, the Close Circuit (CC) TV cameras will be kept on till four days after the examination.

The examination will be conducted in 772 centres while the total venues are 20. Total evaluation zones are 46 while one has been notified as the Council zone.

A total of 1,86,187 candidates have registered for the Arts stream; 37,455 for the Science stream; 18,291 for the Commerce stream and 910 for the Vocational stream. In the Arts stream, 86,670 are males and 99,517 are female candidates while in the Science stream, 26,015 are males and 11,440 are female candidates. Similarly, in the Commerce stream, 13,883 are males and 4,408 are female candidates. On the other hand, in the Vocational stream, 637 are males and 273 are female candidates.

To conduct the examination, the Council has deputed 924 supervising officers and 33 observers.
