Himanta Biswa Sarma urged Xatra naamghar committees to restrict gatherings

GUWAHATI: With commencement of the Assamese lunar month of 'Bhada' when naam-prasangas (community prayers) are held daily across the State, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to the management committees of the xatras and naamghars to ensure that only 10 to 15 faithful gather at each such congregation.

Pointing out that all COVID-19 protocols must be maintained during such gatherings, he said that SOPs in this regard will be issued soon. Special care has to be taken as elderly people usually take part in such religious congregations, he said, adding that some people have been infected even in a few rural areas.
