HS first-year admission only in online mode: Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC)

GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has streamlined the process for admission into HS first year for the academic session 2023–24 by issuing an SOP (standard operating procedure) that allows students to apply for admission only online.

According to the AHSEC, its admission portal, ‘DARPAN’ will be available from May 29 to June 17, 2023, for students to submit their applications for admission into different institutions through it.

According to the SOP, a student cannot apply for admission to more than five institutions. The students have to apply through the portal from May 29 to June 9. The authorities of the institutions can edit the profiles of the students only once before verification of the applications. The selection list and waiting list will be available on the portal. The AHSEC authorities will inform the students of their selection status on the list through SMS.

The authorities advised the students to opt for admission into one institution after the publication of the selection list for admission by using their login ID in the portal at the earliest.

After approval, there will be no option for a student to change the institution. The student has to take admission within the time stipulated. The students will have the liberty to change the preferences of their subjects and streams at the time of admission, and the institution concerned will have to update the same in the portal on the day of admission. The institutions will have to keep their selection lists from the waiting list updated on a regular basis.

The institutions registered under ‘DARPAN’ shall not allow students to enrol at other institutions. In the case of the wrong upload of documents by any student, the institution concerned will be able to upload the correct documents on the portal.

The registration process for the 2023–24 session for HS first-year students, only those admitted through DARPAN, will be in the first week of August this year.

The preparation of the selection list and waiting lists will be from June 10 to June 12, the publication of the provisional selection list and the waiting list is on June 12 at midnight, acceptance of admission by students is from June 13 to June 15, and the confirmation of admission by the institutions is from June 16–17.
