GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is happy that all the issues he raised with the Central Government are heading for their 'logistic conclusion'. He rates it as 'a big achievement'. He was camping in New Delhi for the past three days.
Talking to the media in New Delhi today, the Chief Minister said, "I met the Prime Minister and many other ministers. All of them responded to me positively. I am elated that the Central Government is working fast for the development of Assam.
"My Government has completed six months when we have sown the seeds. The people of the state will see the effects of these seeds after a year. If anyone asks me about my achievement in six months, my reply will be – if my target is 100, I am at five now.
"It's the beginning with projects like Mission Basundhara, Mission Sadbhavana, fight against drugs and corruption, etc. All these projects will show results slowly. However, I am not satisfied as I have many tasks to accomplish in the coming five years."
The Chief Minister met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today. He said, "I have raised the issue of setting up of six Sainik Schools in the state. We have also discussed the proposed tunnel beneath the Brahmaputra.
"In my meeting with Minister of Roads and Highways Nitin Gadkari yesterday, I did raise the proposed bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Narengi and Kuruwa. We also discussed the construction of a ring road taking Guwahati as the centre. "I discussed the problems of Coal India Ltd with Coal and Mines Minister Prahlad Joshi."
