Incentives for inter-caste marriage: Assam Government

GUWAHATI The State government on Thursday announced financial incentives for Inter-caste marriages. The State government has invited applications from inter-caste married couples for availing incentives under the scheme named "Inter Caste Marriage Scheme-2021-22". The inter-caste couple who got married between April 2019 and March 2021 can avail of it. The scheme will cover couples whose inter-community marriages face stiff resistance from their families. The state government will offer an amount with which the married couple can start a small business.

Taking to Twitter, the Assam government (MyGov Assam) wrote, "Applications are invited from inter-caste married couples for availing financial incentives under the Inter Caste Marriage Scheme, 2021-22."

The last date for applying is December 3, 2021. To avail of the benefit, one of the spouses of the inter-caste marriage performed between April 2019 and March 2021 must belong to an SC community and the other a general caste. The annual income of the couple shouldn't exceed Rs 5 lakh.
