Want to insure your crops with financial support? You can do so with just Re 1 against a hectare of cropland under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojona (PMFBY).
The last dates for such insurance of this season– August 15 for Sali paddy and black lentils and July 15 for jute.
To get the crop insurance cover, you need to apply online at your nearest office of the Department of Agriculture and any CSC (Common Service Centre). There are help desks in the department to send your application online. You have to give details of your land pattas and registrations, receipt of land tax (khajna) payment, voter Id, details of your bank account and identity proof. While a farmer pays just Re 1 per hectare of cropland, the governments at the Centre and in the State pay the remaining premia to the banks.
