GORUKHUTI EVICTION

 'Indigenous voters need to cast 100% vote'

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the eviction drive at Gorukhuti in the Darrang district was the beginning of the decisive battle to secure the lands of the state. He further said that this battle would continue till the government made such lands free from encroachers in all districts.

The Chief Minister said this virtually today at the meeting of the organization district committees of the BJP. He said, "The party and the government will have to work in tandem."

Appealing to the BJP office-bearers, Sarma said, "Though voter turnout has gone up in the state, a section of indigenous people of the state is reluctant to exercise their franchise. Against this, the people of a particular faith in the state cast 100 per cent votes. So, we should make it a point that the indigenous people of the state should also register 100 per cent voting."
