Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is a safe motherhood intervention under the National Health Mission (NHM) implemented to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality by promoting institutional delivery among poor pregnant women. JSY integrates cash assistance with delivery and post-delivery care. The scheme provides cash assistance to mothers who have delivered in government health institutions and accredited private hospitals.

All mothers from rural areas irrespective of age, birth order, or income group (BPL & APL) will get cash assistance of Rs 1,400 if delivered at a public health facility or an accredited private hospital.

Likewise, all mothers from urban areas irrespective of age, birth order, or income group (BPL & APL) will get cash assistance of Rs 1,000 if delivered at a public health facility or an accredited private hospital. The government gives Rs 500 for home delivery only for the BPL category.

For details, dial 104 or contact your nearest government hospital or the ASHA worker of your area.
