GUWAHATI: Japanese Ambassador to India Satoshi Suzuki expressed his condolences and sympathy to those who lost their beloved ones and are affected by the recent floods and landslides in Assam and Meghalaya.

"Japan always stands with the people in difficult times," Suzuki said.

In his reply, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Japan for its concern for the people of Assam in this hour of difficulty. "We sincerely acknowledge the support and cooperation of Japan and its beautiful people towards the development of the state."
