BOKO: Drawing a distinct line between Prime Minister Narendra Modi who visited Assam more than 30 times as of now, BJP's national president JP Nadda has termed Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi as 'political tourists' to the State.

Addressing a public rally on Friday in support of the AGP, BJP, UPPL and the Rabha Hasong Joint Movement Committee's candidate of Boko constituency Jyoti Prasad Das at Boko Gandhi Field, Nadda said, "Such Congress leaders come to Assam only when there are elections here. Unlike them, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Assam more than 30 times. In his every visit to the State he announces schemes in various sectors."

Hundreds of people from various communities took part in the election campaign.

Nadda promised that if the BJP retains power at Dispur, it will work for the development of traditional cultures.

Nadda also alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi used other countries' tea garden photos in place of Assam's tea gardens. On the other hand, Priyanka Gandhi plucked tea leaves during off seasons.

Addressing a public rally at Chandmari in Guwahati later in the day, Nadda said, "The Congress is 'mentally Bankrupt' which is why it has stitched alliance with different political parties in different states. In Kerala the party has allied with the Muslim League, with Abbas in West Bengal and with Ajmal in Assam. Ajmal, who was dumped by former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at one time, has been made their partner by the Congress now.

"Badruddin Ajmal can't be the identity of Assam. Assam's identity lies with Srimanta Sankardev, Gopinath Bordoloi, Bhupen Hazarika and others."
