Kashi Nath Hazarika passes away in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: One of the most prominent personalities in the banking sector in Assam and the entire northeastern region, Kashi Nath Hazarika, breathed his last in a private hospital in Guwahati on Thursday at around 11 a.m.

His last rites will be performed at the Nabagraha Crematorium on Friday. Kashi Nath Hazarika was very popular in the organizations where he had worked. He was mostly known for his leadership and administrative skills. He served as the general secretary and thereafter as president of the State Bank of India Officers’ Association. He implemented multiple important projects during his tenure. Some of the noteworthy ones include the difficult centre package, the creation of the head office, the special recruitment of the probationary officers for the Northeast, an increase in staff quotas for the Northeast region, and the State Bank Officers’ Association School, which is now one of the premier schools of the region.

He was also the person who guided the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) from the front towards financing developmental projects in the entire region.

He held the position of Chairman and Managing Director of the organization. “Today, on his demise, SBIOA NE Circle lost a guardian and an advisor. We will not be able to forget this great leader ever in our lives,” mentioned a member of the State Bank of India Officer’s Association.
