GUWAHATI: The Assam government has taken steps after the firing along the Meghalaya border, including the transfer of West Karbi Anglong SP Imdad Ali and the suspension of Jirikinding PS OC Kajal Nath and Forest Protection Officer Shikari Enghi. All personnel of the police force and forest force involved in the incident will be 'closed' to their respective reserves.

Assam Government has decided to provide Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of each of the six persons who died in the police firing. The Assam Government has decided to hand over the investigation of the entire incident to a central/neutral investigation agency.
