SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded nine COVID-19 deaths taking the total fatalities to 880 on Tuesday. Of the nine new deaths, East Khasi Hills district recorded five, Ri-Bhoi district two and West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills districts recorded one death each.
The State also recorded 457 new cases and 497 recovered from the virus. With the latest figures, the State now has 4,305 active cases while 47,173 persons recovered from the infection.
Of the 457 new infections, 154 were recorded in Ri-Bhoi; 99 in East Khasi Hills; 69 in West Garo Hills; 45 in West Jaintia Hills; 22 in North Garo Hills; 14 cases each in South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills; 12 in South West Garo Hills; 10 each in East Jaintia Hills and South Garo Hills; and eight in East Garo Hills.
Of the 4,305 total active cases, as many as 1,439 cases are in East Khasi Hills; 901 in Ri-Bhoi; 537 in West Jaintia Hills; 469 in West Garo Hills; 223 in North Garo Hills; 194 in West Khasi Hills; 146 in East Garo Hills; 133 in South West Khasi Hills; 95 in East Jaintia Hills; 90 in South Garo Hills; and 78 in South West Garo Hills.
