SILCHAR: Minister for Environment and Forest, Parimal Suklabaidya visited the areas of Tulartal, Baghewala, Singua and Lailapur along the Assam-Mizoram inter-State boundary on Thursday to allay the fears of local people being terrorised by Mizo miscreants and to reassure them that the State government is with them.
The Minister urged the local people not to panic unnecessarily, and said that the government is making all-out efforts to resolve the Assam-Mizoram boundary dispute.
Suklabaidya discussed the current situation over telephone with the higher ups of the police administration. On the same day, he visited the newly set up Border Outpost in the Singua area, and spoke to the police personnel on duty and inquired about their problems. He also visited the local Lailapur Police Outpost and spoke to the police officials and prominent citizens.
Minister Suklabaidya promised to set up another Border Outpost at Tulartal and Baghewala areas soon after the locals demanded the setting up of a separate border outpost.
The Minister was accompanied by Dholai Madhya ZilaParishad member Shashank Chandra Pal, DholaiGaonPanchayat president Bhushan Pal, BJP NarsinghpurMandal general secretary Kamlesh Das, SheoratalGaonPanchayat president Sunendra Chandra Barmanche, and Ajay Kumar Das among others, stated a DDIPR release.
