GUWAHTATI: The flood situation in Assam has marginally improved, but 2.71 lakh people in 15 districts are affected due to the flood. The day witnessed no major damage to infrastructure, barring a few minor ones. However, erosion continues to pose a threat.

Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has been keeping in touch with the State Government and is assuring all help.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Home Minister Amit Shah called him to inquire about the flood situation in the state and assured him of full support from the Centre for any emergency.

The Union Home Minister called me today and inquired about the flood situation in the state. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been kept on standby, and for any emergency, the Government of India is there,” Sarma quoted the Union Home Minister as telling him.

“I’ve told him that as of now the situation is under control, and we are constantly monitoring the situation,” the Chief Minister said during his interaction with the media in Guwahati.

In his tweet, Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government stands firm, as it has been with the people of Assam in difficult times.
