GUWAHATI: All's not well in the process of choosing roads for renovation or construction in Guwahati. A case: Reconstruction work of the Banbasu Bodo Path in the Lalganesh and Champak Nagar area of the city is baffling. The stretch of the road is 630 metres.

Former Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) general secretary Kamala Kanta Mushahary said, "In 2007, a stretch of 200 metres of this road was concretized. Another 120-metre stretch of the road was concretized later. A stretch of 310-metre of the road has not been concretized even now. The condition of a 150-metre stretch of the 310 metres of the road is pathetic.

"However, on August 20, 2020 local MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of a 120-metre stretch of the 200-metre stretch of the road that was concretized in 2007, instead of constructing the remaining 310 metres of the road. How baffling this is!

"On Friday, the local people registered their protest against the misplaced priority shown by the local MLA on the construction of this road," added Mushahary, who is a resident of the area.
