GUWAHATI: The State Government has rejected as many as 3,97,118 applications for land settlement under Mission Basundhara 2.0 during the critical scrutiny so far. The State Government did make it clear at the launch of this phase of Mission Basundhara that it would be more critical than the first phase since it is indigenous people-friendly.

Work under Mission Basundhara 2.0 is going on under the supervision of the Revenue and Disaster Management (R&DM) Department.

The government received 13,39,598 applications for land settlement under Mission Basundhara 2.0 online. After the rejection of 3,97,118 applications, 9,42,480 are under processing. According to the R&DM Department, the government will dispose of all applications by November 14 this year. So far, no application has been accepted by the government. However, the government has found around 10,000 applicants eligible for land settlement so far. These 10,000 applications fall into the easy-to-deliver category. By the end of August or early September, the applicants will be able to know the status of their applications online, and the State Cabinet is likely to fix the date.

The R&DM department has also decided that applicants eligible for land settlement will have to pay premiums. According to R&DM sources, the department is contemplating making eligible applicants pay at least one installment by December 31 this year and the remaining three installments of the premiums later. The department will provide land documents for land settlement only to those who will pay at least one premium. The rate of land premiums will be as per the zonal value of lands.
