GUWAHATI: The last date for submission of applications for settlement of land issues under Mission Basundhara 2.0 is March 31, 2023. Till date, a total of 9,85,926 applications have been received. Among them, 7,73,396 applications for settlement of land issues of khas land and 70,108 applications for settlement of land issues of PG/VGR land have been received.

The government has decided that the process for disposing of the applications received under Mission Basundhara 2.0 will begin from April, 2023. As Mission Basundhara 2.0 aims to protect forest, government, and critical land, the government will come up with a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure that indigenous people are not deprived of land rights and doubtful citizens do not get land rights. The SOP is being prepared by the State Revenue and Disaster Management Department and it will be fowarded to all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Circle Officers (COs) who will follow the SOP while disposing of the applications under Mission Basundhara 2.0. This SOP will be indigenous people-friendly.

All applications under Mission Basundhara were supposed to be disposed of by November 14, 2023 but now the government has also taken a policy decision to categorize the applications received. While applications for settling genuine land issues will be disposed of first, the remaining applications will be re-examined after November 14.
