Modified SOP in Assam from Today, Curfew from 2 PM in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The State Government issued a new SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) with certain modifications on Tuesday. The new SOP will be effective from Wednesday. While the existing restrictions have been relaxed to a large extent in some districts, some other districts have been kept under observations up to June 22 till when the existing SOP will continue there.
New COVID SOP in Guwahati, Assam
In Kamrup (M) shops and other commercial establishments will remain open till 1 pm and the covid curfew will be from 2 pm. All government and private offices in Kamrup (M) will function up to 1 pm. In South Salmara, Majuli, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Udalguri, West Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao and Charaideo districts all shops and commercial establishments will remain open up to 5 pm and the curfew will be from 5 pm to 5 am. The existing covid restrictions have been relaxed to a large extent in these districts following the fall in the number of the COVID-19 positive cases.
On the other hand, Cachar, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur and Nagaon districts have been kept under observation up to June 22 till when the existing SOP will continue there. If the COVID-19 situation in these districts doesn't improve by June 22 the total lockdown is likely there.
In the other districts, the existing SOP (shops and commercial establishments to remain open till '12 noon' and the curfew from 1 pm to 5 am) issued on June 4 will continue till June 22. Weekly bazaars are not allowed.
The inter-district movement ban will continue till June 22. As usual, all essential services have been exempted from the purview of the covid restrictions. All government and private employees who have taken both doses of the COVID-19 vaccines will have to attend their offices, mandatorily. In the case of public transport, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and taxis will run with one driver and two passengers each. The pillion riding is banned, barring women and children.
Only the religious part of marriages will be allowed with only ten persons. All religious places will remain closed till further order. Funerals and last rites are allowed only with ten persons. All educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities shall continue to provide virtual options, no physical classes are allowed.
The respective district magistrates will declare containment zones if the COVID-19 positive cases occur 5 per cent or more in urban areas and 10 per cent more in rural areas in the past one week.
