Money, liquor worth crores seized after MCC enforced in the State

GUWAHATI: During the last nine days and up to 9 am of March 6, cash amounting to Rs 2.72 crore and liquor worth Rs 1.11 crore were confiscated from various places of Assam.

Till the morning of February 6, as many as 23 complaints regarding violation of MCC (Model Code of Conduct) were received from several districts of Assam, stated a release.

State Police, Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) across the state are presently keeping close vigil against any suspicious movement of cash, valuables, liquor, contraband etc. This is done to check any attempt at violation of Model Code of Conduct enforced presently for conduct of free and fair polls, added the release.
