GUWAHATI: Like the Gorukhuti multipurpose agriculture project at Dholpur in Sipajhar within the Darrang District, many projects will grow across the State, stated State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora here on Wednesday after visiting the Gorukhuti project on Tuesday.
Talking to The Sentinel, Minister Bora added, "There are many fertile government lands in the State which are under encroachment. The government will identify such lands and conduct phase-wise eviction drives in such areas."
He further stated, "Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stressed tapping employment avenues in the Agriculture sector. All the farms in such areas will be composite with scopes for multipurpose agricultural activities. These activities will engage the local youths."
Agricultural work has already commenced in the state-of-the-art Gorukhuti project employing local youths, said the Minister.
"Modern agriculture equipment has been utilized in the Gorukhuti project," stated the Minister, adding that "cattle have also arrived for dairy farming in Gorukhuti. The initial allocation for the Gorukhuti project is Rs 10 crore. The government will increase the amount subsequently."
Mentionably, the Gorukhuti project will be monitored by Padma Hazarika, the BJP legislator from Sootea LAC (Legislative Assembly Constituency).
