MANGALDAI, Jan 24: In the end, and as anticipated — human values prevailed, as manifested through the loving, unbreakable bond between mother and child. Every child, after all, is born as human and his identity comes next. The bond of love between mother and the child is always above any law. This was once again proved by two villager parents in Darrang district, reflecting the highest degree of thought and practice. One couple is Muslim, residing at Badli Char under Shyampur police station, while the other couple is Bodo, hailing from village Mepara-Bezpara under Mangaldai police station — who have established that humanity is above religion, faith, creed, law and even blood relations. The two couples have agreed to remain separated from their biological son, and instead keep and bring up the son of the other couple with the same care and responsibility they had lavished ever since the babies were exchanged at their time of birth in March, 2015 allegedly due to negligence of Mangaldai Civil Hospital authority.

Both the couples on Wednesday submitted an affidavit to this regard before the court of Additiol Chief Judicial Magistrate at Mangaldai. The court considered their prayer in the affidavit, and keeping in mind the mental and physical states of both the boys, allowed that they be kept as before under the care and protection of their foster parents. This was revealed by Assistant Public Prosecutor Bhabendra th Sarma and counsel of the petitioners Advocate Jiaur Rahman.

The incident reportedly came to light on Jan 4 last in the court campus when the two couples refused to be separated from their two-and-half year old sons who were proved through D test reports as not their biological offspring.
