GUWAHATI: After a gap of almost five years, the originally proposed Rs. 471.40 crore 'Integrated Directorate Complex' project at Betkuchi here is set to have a redesigned blueprint.
By housing in a single complex some of the Directorates located within the heart of Guwahati, the project aims at also reducing congestion within the city.
The project will be funded by the Assam Infrastructure Financing Authority. The blueprint to be redesigned again by the PWD (Public Works Department (Building) as the present government is not satisfied with the original design of this complex.
If the project sees the light of the day, the complex will be under the GAD (General Administration Department).
The foundation of the complex was laid by the then Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on March 1, 2016. However, the work did not progress at that time. The interesting fact is that the present BJP-led alliance government has decided to push this project only at the fag-end of its tenure.
The original complex planned on the lines of the 'Green Building' concept over 15 lakh sq ft of area, was designed with air ducts for natural air to flow in and also facilities for ventilation of natural light.
