The receipt of applications for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Examination, 2021-22, will continue till October 30, 2021. Union Human Resources Development Ministry conducts this examination annually for class VIII students of government/provincialized schools or schools run by local boards.

A student qualifying for this examination gets Rs 12,000 yearly for four years. Students of private schools can also sit for this examination to test their merit, but they do not get the scholarship.

How to apply: Download Vidyarthi App from Google Play Store and apply or log on to www.madhyamik.assam.gov.in. You need to give a copy of the student's signed passport-size photo.

You need to furnish the relevant certificates if you belong to any of the following categories – Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, OBC and differently-abled.

Through this examination, the authorities will pick 2,411 students from Assam for the NMMS. The Ministry holds the examinations in December-January and declares the results in January.
