GUWAHATI: The voters of the DAC (Deori Autonomous Council) sealed the fate of 75 candidates with a voting turnout of 79.99 per cent today.
According to the Assam State Election Commission (ASEC), the poll was peaceful without any untoward incident from anywhere in the council area. The counting of votes will be on November 10.
The DAC covers areas in a few districts and subdivisions of North Assam and Upper Assam. The districts and subdivisions are Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Majuli, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sadiya, Margherita, Jonai and Gohpur. The voting took place from 8 am to 4 pm in 93 polling stations in the districts and subdivisions. The total number of voters in 22 constituencies is 43,595.
