GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said at Nagaon on Sunday that a new SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) will come into effect in the State from Thursday.

Seven districts of the State are total containment zones. The districts are Biswanath, Goalpara, Golaghat, Morigaon, Jorhat, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur. However, the COVID-19 situation in these seven districts is improving slowly. Sources in the Health Department hinted that the authorities may relax the COVID-19 protocols slightly in the seven districts currently under total containment.

On Sunday, the Health Department detected 101 fresh COVID-19 cases in Golaghat, 46 in Biswanath, 28 in Goalpara, 50 in Morigaon, 85 in Jorhat, 98 in Lakhimpur and 70 in Sonitpur.

Meanwhile, talking to The Sentinel, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said, "We have two lakh vaccine doses in stock now. We received one lakh doses on Saturday. More vaccines will arrive in the State on Monday. We inoculated 1,18,713 doses of vaccines on Saturday."
