GUWAHATI/LAKHIMPUR: The State government has relaxed the lockdown to an extent in three – Jorhat, Sonitpur and Biswanath – of the five districts currently under total containment. The round-the-clock curfew will continue to stay in Golaghat and Lakhimpur districts. The new SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) will come into effect from Wednesday till further orders.
In five districts – Goalpara, Morigaon, Jorhat, Sonitpur and Biswanath – while shops and other business establishments will remain open till 1 pm, the curfew will start from 2 pm. In the rest of the districts, shops and business establishments will operate till 4 pm, and the curfew will be from 5 pm.
While the inter-district movement continues to remain suspended, intra-district passenger-carrying vehicles can operate with 50 per cent seat capacity with Covid-appropriate behaviour.
Schools and colleges will remain closed. The authority has prohibited public gatherings in open spaces. It has, however, allowed them in closed venues with one-third of seat capacity not exceeding 200 fully vaccinated people.
The Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC), including e-auction, will operate till 3 pm with 20 per cent of their total workers. Weekly markets will continue to remain closed.
Tea gardens will function subject to the Covid-appropriate behaviour.
All religious places will remain closed for devotees. Not more than ten persons can attend any marriage ceremony.
