STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI:

Bohag Bihu Celebration 2021 During COVID: Despite the latest covid-19 guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) asking the States to follow 'test-track-treat' protocol to contain the spread of fresh COVID-19 infection, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that there is absolutely no reason to be worried as the State Government will not put any restriction on the celebration of the Rongali Bihu slated next month.

"Only nominal cases of COVID-19 positive cases are being reported in the Assam State. Such cases will be there till the pandemic is completely over. So, there will be no restriction on celebration of Rongali Bihu, one of the Bihu among many. If the elections could be held, why not Bohag Bihu?" posed Sarma.

Meanwhile, a doctor at the GMCH (Gauhati Medical College & Hospital) said that even though the COVID-positivity rate is still low in the assam, the danger lies with COVID complacency which has set in among the people.
