STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI:

Is Lockdown Imposed in Assam Again?: Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that there is no plan to impose fresh lockdown in the State even as the COVID-19 positive cases are being detected daily.

"For the last one month, the State is recording 10 to 20 positive cases daily. Such cases will be there till the pandemic is over. The COVID situation is completely under control; and there is no reason to panic," Sarma told reporters. He added that the State Government did not impose lockdown even when hundreds of COVID-positive cases were detected daily.

So far, 1.43 lakh Health workers have received the first dose of the COVID vaccine. About 15,257 Healthcare workers have so far received the second dose of the COVID vaccine. Around 31,157 frontline workers have also received the first shot of vaccine.

Two vaccines – Covishield and Covaxin — are being provided to Assam. These vaccines are administered in the injectable form to the beneficiaries.
