Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department terminates four engineers

GUWAHATI: Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department terminated and suspended several employees, including five accredited engineers on the charge of anomalies in the MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) and PMAYG (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin) schemes.

The department completed an investigation following a directive from Commissioner Vikram Kairi and took action against some officials.

The terminated accredited engineers are Ataur Rahman, Atikur Rahman and Abdul Karim of Barkhetri Development Block and Kuntala Barman of Gauripur Development Block. Also terminated from the job are computer assistants Matiur Rahman and Surajit Barman of Barkhetri Development Block and Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission's chief operating officer (skill) from their jobs.

The department suspended the secretary of Jia Bharali Gaon Panchayat Haldar and account assistant Amarendra Goswami of Nalbari Development Block.
