Post-poll Violence in West Bengal: In post-poll result violence that broke out in West Bengal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members have been fleeing to Dhubri from West Bengal's Coochbehar district since Tuesday.

This is for the second time that Trinamool Congress 'goons' unleashed violence on the BJP workers and sympathizers across West Bengal after the declaration of poll results on Sunday, alleged party workers taking shelter in Dhubri district. They further alleged that after the assam poll results of the parliamentary election were declared in 2019, similar attacks were unleashed on the party workers, and then also BJP worker had to take shelter in Dhubri district.

Over 500 BJP members and sympathizers fled the Coochbehar district of West Bengal with their family members and are now taking shelter in Ronpagli MV School and Pokalagi Lower Primary School under Agomoni Police Station of Dhubri district.

Dhubri District unit of Simanta Chetana Mancha, Purbattar swung into action as soon as they heard the news of the exodus of BJP workers into the district and arranged for food and shelter for workers.

Talking to The Sentinel, Dhubri Nagar unit of Simanta Chetana Manch, Purbattar, Udayan Chakraborty strongly condemned the mindless violence on the BJP workers and their family members across West Bengal in which many workers were killed and injured and their houses torched.

"It is very unfortunate that whenever there is an election, West Bengal boils and political violence between incumbent and contending party takes the centre stage during the poll campaign and even after a poll result is declared. This is a very bad and unethical trend being set in West Bengal after TMC came to power in 2011," Chakraborty alleged.

Meanwhile, Dhubri Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra visited the shelters and took stock of the situation and assured protection of the workers taking shelter in schools.
