GUWAHATI: The power tariff in the State has been reduced by 15 to 20 per cent for fiscal 2021-22. The new rate of power tariff will be effective from April 1, 2021.

The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC) has approved the power tariff for fiscal 2021-22. According to the order issued by the AERC, while the energy charges of LT domestic and LT commercial categories have been reduced by 20 paisa per unit, that of all other categories have been reduced by 15 paisa per unit. The fixed/demand charges have been retained at all the existing levels for all categories.

According to APDCL (Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd) Managing Director Rakesh Kumar, power tariff in the State has been falling in the past three to four years because of financial support being given by the government.
